Dr Ellen Williamson is a Postdoctoral Research Assistant at the University of Glasgow working with local communities on interventions to reduce diet inequalities. Her research focuses on improving public health through nutrition while promoting sustainable and equitable food systems. Her PhD was a joint award between the University of Exeter and the University of Queensland where she combined expertise in human nutrition and sustainable aquaculture to evaluate the role of algae in supporting human diets. Prior to focusing on human nutrition Dr Williamson worked in the diagnostics industry on the development of high throughput in vitro diagnostic tests.
Dr Williamson joined the SSAC on 1 October 2026.
