  The Scottish Science Advisory Committee

The Scottish Science Advisory Committee was established in May 2002, under the auspices of The Royal Society of Edinburgh (RSE), to provide independent advice to Scottish Executive Ministers on strategic scientific issues, including science strategy, science policy and science priorities.

Following the appointment of Professor Anne Glover as the new Chief Scientific Adviser for Scotland (CSA) at the Scottish Executive, from January 2007 the RSE longer had any responsibilities for the Scottish Science Advisory Committee (SSAC).
During 2007 Professor Glover has been consulting widely about the arrangements that will ensure effective engagement with the science community on science strategy and issues so that future CSA-related developments can be built on the foundations laid by the SSAC. Nearly all the present members of the SSAC have remained involved and supported Professor Glover during this transition to help frame recommendations to Ministers about the way forward.
The information contained on these pages pertains to the SSAC committee during phase I and II.
