Professor Carol Tannahill is Chief Social Policy Adviser with the Scottish Government, working on the Government’s approaches to supporting communities and tackling deep-rooted inequalities.  She has a leadership role with the National Performance Framework, focussing on the delivery of key outcomes for the whole of Scotland.

 

Carol has held public health leadership roles in Scotland for more than 20 years, most recently as the Director of the Glasgow Centre for Population Health, a research and development centre which generates insights and evidence for action to improve health and tackle inequality.

 

Carol is a Trustee of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and holds honorary professorial appointments with the University of Glasgow and Glasgow Caledonian University.  She was appointed OBE for services to public health in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
