Professor Stuart Monro, OBE, BSc, PhD, CGeol, FGS, FHEA, FRSSA

Stuart Monro is Scientific Director at Our Dynamic Earth and a leading practitioner in promoting science to a wide audience. He has over 34 years of scientific research experience with the British Geological Survey as a Principal Geologist. Stuart Monro has served a Non-Executive Director of the Edinburgh International Science Festival and on the Royal Society of Edinburgh's Young People's Committee.

He has significant experience of teaching geology at all levels in the Open University and has been a member of the Council of the Open University. He is also co-convener of the Scottish Earth Science Education Forum and Chair of the Earth Science Trust. In 2005 he was appointed as a Trustee of the National Museums of Scotland and was made an Honorary Fellow of the University of Edinburgh (School of Geosciences). From September 2007, he also serves as a member of the University Court of the University of Edinburgh. He was appointed a visiting Professor in the School of Geosciences at the University of Edinburgh in February 2008.
