Dr Spruce is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Surgery and Molecular Oncology, University of Dundee.
Dr Spruce is a physician scientist whose interests and experience lie principally in the delivery of academic research to the clinical arena. She has expertise in the alignment of translational research with a commercial strategy, the product of which has been a successful licensing deal with a drug development company, Modern Biosciences plc, to deliver a new cancer therapy to the clinic. Dr Spruce has received funding for translational work from a number of sources including the Wellcome Trust and Scottish Enterprise. In 2003 she was awarded the inaugural Gannochy Trust Innovation Award of the Royal Society of Edinburgh for her work in the area of cancer drug discovery and development.
